An art exhibition at Nehru Centre,  Worli, is going to be organised from December 15 to 18 by the Indian Institute of Architects

One of the stalls in this exhibitions is Sompura Arts.  Meeting Mr. Hariprasad Sompura, Chairman of Shilp Academy and the owner of this stall. Mr. Sompura also runs an art-gallery at Vile Parle (E), namely Sompura Art Gallery to introduce traditional sculptures to people and to decorate homes with idols of stone.

For flats in cities like Bombay Mr. Sompura has provided a home for Gods in the form of Ambosed mini temples made of stone.  These mini temples, popularly known as 'Dev Gavax' are affixed on the wall in such a manner that they project just six inches of wall.  More and more people now prefer this type of mini temple as they are not affected by insects, flames of 'deep' and by water of 'abhishek'.  In addition.  these mini temples look cleaner and more attractive and are not overly expensive.
